John McCain Lost For Only One Reason

November 6th 2008 05:37
I will put it simply. He lost because he was a Republican. He was in ALL manner the more qualified for this nation, but that will be something that the American people will have to deal with as a trainee takes the wheel.

I don't begrudge Obama his victory, it was hard fought, and historically it goes without saying. But, for once in my adult life I would like to see people choose on the true merits versus the shotgun approach. This same thing happened in the 90s with the promise for America when people were tired of the Dems. We all know that America votes for the moment not for the long term.

I say that to say that John McCain has NOTHING to apologize for. He has served this country far more than almost any citizen. He should be held in honor regardless of what you think of his political views.

He got caught by an economy that did not start to fail with George Bush, but certainly was not helped by him. People like to have selective memory, but Greenspan did this to our country and he served under Clinton first.

Delores

You seem to have a sane head screwed upon your shoulders.

I understand that you had a candidate that you favoured.

However I will just say a few thing from my view of point.
I did like things about both candidates and I disliked things about both candidates.

The only thing that I cannot understand is why are US elections so hostile?

Why does it seem polarize every person from the USA to an Australian blog?

How many folks voted for McCain just because he was a Republican I wonder?

People voted for Obama because . . .

Watching McCain change from a true Maverick into a candidate that would say and do whatever it took to win meant he had no scruples

Palin makes Dan Qualye look like a Nobel laureate

Erratic and unfocused leadership

It's the economy stupid

Obama is smarter

and a million more reasons you did not mention.

I tend to agree with Anonymous. McCain could have won if he'd run a better, more focused campaign. BUT, he did have a very uphill battle from the very beginning. I'm rather impressed that he did as well on Election Night as he did.
