United States vesus Arizona

The Federal Government has filed a lawsuit against Arizona for it new immigration Law. The law suit is claiming that the Arizona law is taking on the responsibility of the Federal government. Here is a URL where you can read the Arizona law if you haven’t already done so - Really Long Link
The Arizona law does require officers to ask for people to show identification when they are dealing with criminals or traffic law violators. I don’t know about you but when people are arrested or pulled over for traffic violations aren’t they asked for identification so I am a little confused?

The preamble of the Constitution reads (I should put a reference here but I learned this in school so I am quoting) “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The portion I have bolded is where I think Arizonians may feel that the government has let them down because they believed that the United States government would adhere to the Laws that our legislatures thought would work in solving the problems of immigration and because they are not being enforced Arizona is having a problem.
My concern is that if people are here illegally then why are we protecting them? Why are we not protecting” the general welfare” of those who have entered this country legally I for one had ancestors who entered this country through registering at Ellis Island.
Another interesting portion of our constitution is The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

So if you are not here legally do you have the right to extend suit or speak out about how one state is handling crime of those who are here illegally?
Wouldn’t the Federal government be better served to put the money they are spending suing Arizona to enforcing the Laws they have already written, voted on and passed (Many of these Laws have been given in previous posts) so that Arizona could rescind this law?
